Peter J. Caruso II Adds Depth to Prince Lobel’s Intellectual Property, Internet and Media Practices

(Boston, MA) — Peter J. Caruso II joins Prince Lobel Tye LLP as a partner in the Intellectual Property, Internet Law and Media Practice Groups. Most recently, Peter was a managing partner at Caruso and Caruso, a law firm in Andover, Mass.

Specializing in the representation of traditional and online media entities, artists, art organizations, museums, and galleries, Peter’s services include the protection of trademark, copyright and intellectual property rights, First Amendment issues, accession, deaccession, stolen art, privacy issues, art import and export, provenance, privacy, and business and corporate matters.
Peter is one of the drafters of the Massachusetts Art Consignment Statute (MGL 104A), which affords additional protection to consignors of fine art.  He is a lecturer in the Boston University Arts Administration Master’s Program, teaching “Legal Aspects of Arts Administration” to master’s candidates.  Peter is an active panel attorney with the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts of Massachusetts, handling pro bono and reduced fee art law cases, as well as serving as a primary lecturer in the VLA Artist’s Toolbox program.  His work in securing the release of more than 1,000 pieces of art from federal bankruptcy through the prosecution of claims under the Massachusetts art consignment statute after a consignment shop closed its doors, earned him the VLA’s annual “Robert B Fraser” award as a pro bono counsel of the year in 2004.
