Bio

Patricia M. Annino is a nationally recognized authority on estate planning and taxation, with more than 25 years experience serving the diverse needs of families, individuals, and owners of closely held businesses. Patricia is Chair of our firm’s Estate Planning and Probate Practice Group. She is also a member of the Media Law Practice Group, representing authors, artists, and musicians in estate planning and probate matters.

She has testified as an expert witness in high-stakes divorce cases where trusts and other inherited assets are at risk. Clients count on her for expertise in inheritance law, trust law, and common law, including real property and intangible property interests. Her opinions have been favorably relied upon by the probate and family court when she has testified.

Patricia has been quoted extensively on estate planning in a wide variety of local and national publications including the Wall Street Journal, Dallas Morning News, Chicago Tribune, Marketwatch, Investors.com, and Women’s Business Journal. She has acted as the estate planning consultant to the independent investment research provider, Morningstar, and has been interviewed on Bloomberg Television.

Patricia is a frequent public speaker, presenting nationally to high-level donors and trustees of hospitals, museums, and other nonprofits, as well as private banking clients, owners of closely held businesses, and alumni organizations. In addition to speaking to various groups about her book Women and Money, Patricia was interviewed by Family Business Wiki Newsletter in May, 2013. Click here to view the video from that interview. Patricia also writes a monthly column for CPA Insider, a newsletter sent to more than 160,000 CPAs and other wealth managers and advisors.

While earning her master’s degree in taxation at Boston University, she was a member of The Boston University Journal of Tax Law. At Bentley College, she has taught ‘Estate and Gift Taxation’ in the Masters in Taxation program, and ‘Estate Planning’ in the Masters in Financial Planning program.

Patricia also lends her considerable talent and expertise in the practice areas of corporate and media law, making her an invaluable resource to both her colleagues and clients at Prince Lobel.

  • February 2011: Became a regular contributor to CPA Insider, a monthly e-newsletter published by the American Institute of CPAs. Patricia writes regularly on topics such as estate planning, investment planning, real estate, eldercare, and more.
  • Author of two widely utilized professional texts: Estate Planning in Massachusetts, part of West Publishing Company’s Massachusetts Practice Series, and Taxwise Planning for Aging, Ill, or Incapacitated Clients, published by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
  • Regular contributor to MCLE publications, including the “Federal Gift Tax” chapter in A Practical Guide to Estate Planning in Massachusetts and the chapter “Literature, Art, Music and Computer Programs” in the 2012 edition of Drafting Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts. She also wrote “Educating the Client in Estate Planning,” a chapter in the 2009 Thomson Reuters publication New Strategies for Estate Planning: Leading Lawyers on Working with Clients, Updating Traditional Strategies, and Responding to Recent Legal and Economic Developments (Inside the Minds).
