Jeff Pyle represents Maine newspaper in case involving state's Freedom of Access Act

April 13, 2006

Jeff Pyle, an associate in Prince Lobel's media practice group, is representing Quoddy Tides in its case against the Pleasant Point Passamaquoddy Reservation.  The newspaper sued the reservation in September to gain access to tribal meetings when a proposed liquefied natural gas terminal was discussed.  Jeff was quoted in an article in the Bangor Daily News suggesting to the justices that before deciding whether the tribe was acting in a governmental or business capacity, they should consider who is leasing the land and the impact the lease might have on the public.
