Robert A. Bertsche Quoted in Cambridge Chronicle Regarding Alleged Drug Dealer Hired by Cambridge Public Schools: Timing of CORI Check a Concern September 8, 2011A part-time school department employee who was caught “allegedly
dealing drugs during work hours” may have been hired before a CORI check was
completed. CORI checks (Criminal Offender Record Information), which are
normally done for anyone who has contact with children, are required by the
school department, and beginning work there is contingent upon passing the check.
On behalf of firm client New England Newspaper and Press Association,
Rob Bertsche stated, “It would seem odd to hire an
applicant before the CORI check is complete; at the very least, I would think
that any hiring would be strictly conditioned on the outcome of a CORI check.”
