Amy B. Hackett
Associate
Amy B.
Hackett is an associate in Prince Lobel’s Litigation Practice Group. Her
practice includes representing financial services companies
in prosecuting and defending claims relating to the origination and
collection of mortgage loans. Amy also represents other commercial
entities, including general contractors,
subcontractors, developers, and property owners in connection with a wide
range of complex civil matters.
Representing
clients in state and federal courts as well as before the Massachusetts Appeals
Court, Amy’s cases involve commercial contract disputes, insurance coverage
disputes, employment disputes, and tort claims. Amy’s approach is to develop
comprehensive case strategies that provide her clients with efficient,
cost-effective, and successful resolution of their claims.
Amy's recent successes include:
- Prevailing in the Massachusetts Appeals
Court in a case involving a contract for the sale of commercial
property
- Successfully proving claims for
equitable estoppel and equitable subrogation to establish a first lien
position for a financial institution at trial in Norfolk Superior Court
- Defeating summary judgment in
Essex Superior Court on behalf
of a general contractor on claims against it for misrepresentation and
violation of 93A arising out of work on a construction project
During law
school, Amy was a judicial intern for Judge Reginald C. Lindsay
of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Amy was also a
summer associate for Brown Rudnick LLP and a law clerk at Prince
Lobel. While at Northeastern University School of Law, Amy served as a
teaching assistant for a first-year contracts course, participated in
Northeastern's Criminal Defense Clinic, and was a member of Northeastern's
National Mock Trial competition team.
Amy
received her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law, a Master of
Arts degree from the University
of Massachusetts Boston, and a
Bachelor of Arts degree from Connecticut
College.
