Nancy A. Freed
Partner
Nancy A. Freed is co-chair of Prince Lobel’s Domestic Relations Practice Group, bringing to the firm more than 25 years of experience as a trial attorney, mediator, arbitrator, and lecturer. Nancy represents clients in Probate and Family Courts in Suffolk, Middlesex, Norfolk, Essex, Plymouth, Barnstable and Worcester counties, as well as in the Massachusetts appeals court, in custody, family law, and estate-related matters.
Nancy is a leading expert in business valuation for closely held business owners, medical and dental professionals, and their spouses. Focusing exclusively on all aspects of family law, Nancy has successfully tried and argued many landmark cases at the appellate level involving matters such as prenuptial agreements, business valuation, property division, alimony, child support, and other child-related matters.
Whether as a courtroom advocate, negotiator, or counselor, Nancy is committed to using her knowledge and experience to guide and assist clients through the legal process, in an effort to minimize the potential adverse impact upon the parties involved and their children.
She is also dedicated to the selection and implementation of the dispute resolution process, which is best suited to each client’s needs. Her approach is always to use her skills, knowledge, integrity, and reputation in a manner that promotes her clients’ interest, while also protecting the future ability of the restructured family to function as well as possible once the legal matters are resolved.
A well-regarded public speaker, Nancy has spoken at the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference for the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors on the matter of divorce planning. There, she presented a case study on how financial planners can be helpful during the entire divorce process.
Nancy frequently shares her knowledge and experience as chair and lecturer in numerous family law courses and seminars through Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education. She served on the faculty of the MCLE program Business Valuation Issues for the Domestic Relations Practitioner, and recently joined a panel of experts in a program titled Custody and Child Support. Nancy spoke on the use of collateral witnesses in Guardian ad Litem investigations, as well as the use of collateral witnesses at trial.
Nancy has served on various committees of the Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations concerning probate court procedural matters and the legal needs of children, and she is actively involved in various local community-based projects.
Since 2005, Nancy has been recognized as a Massachusetts “Super Lawyer” as featured in Boston magazine.
