Patricia M. Annino Partner

Patricia M. Annino chairs Prince Lobel Glovsky & Tye’s Estate Planning and Probate Group. She is a nationally recognized authority on estate planning and taxation, with 20 years of experience serving the estate planning needs of families, individuals and owners of closely held businesses.  A member of the firm’s Media and Intellectual Property Group, she represents authors, artists and musicians in estate planning and probate matters.

She is the author of two widely utilized professional texts: Estate Planning in Massachusetts, part of West Publishing Company’s Massachusetts Practice Series, and Taxwise Planning for Aging, Ill, or Incapacitated Clients, published by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is also author of the Federal Gift Tax, a chapter in A Practical Guide to Estate Planning in Massachusetts, published by MCLE, author of the published book, Women & Money, A Practical Guide to Estate Planning (2004), author of the published book, Women in Family Business: What Keeps You up at Night? (2009), and author of “Educating the Client in Estate Planning”, a chapter in New Strategies for Estate Planning: Leading Lawyers on Working with Clients, Updating Traditional Strategies, and Responding to Recent Legal and Economic Developments (Inside the Minds) Thomson Reuters (2009). 

Patricia has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal on the topic of estate planning, and has acted as the estate planning consultant to the independent investment research provider, Morningstar. She has been quoted in the Dallas Morning News, the Chicago Tribune, Marketwatch, Investors.com, the Women’s Business Journal, and interviewed on Bloomberg Television.

While earning her master's degree in taxation at Boston University, she was a member of The Boston University Journal of Tax Law. She has taught “Estate and Gift Taxation” in the Masters in Taxation program at Bentley College and “Estate Planning” in the Masters in Financial Planning program at Bentley College. She has conducted more than 80 seminars for public and private organizations, including the CEO Women’s Group; IBM Corporation; Fidelity Investments; National Tax Institute; Mellon Bank; Liberty Mutual; MFS; the American, Massachusetts, and Boston Bar Associations; the Massachusetts Bankers Association; John Hancock Life Insurance Company and the Harvard Business School Alumni Association.  

She has participated in a nationally broadcasted teleconference call arranged by the U.S. Department of Labor entitled “Estate Planning for Women” and a nationally broadcasted teleconference call arranged by the American Bar Associates (ABA) entitled “Should Your Trusted Advisor Be Your Trustee?”  

Patricia has received the highest (AV) rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.  In 2008, Patricia was selected to The Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of trusts and estates.  In addition, Patricia was recognized in the 2004 - 2008 Boston magazine supplements as a Massachusetts “Super Lawyer.” In 2006, she was selected in that poll as one of the top 50 female lawyers in Massachusetts.  In 2007, Patricia was voted by her peers in the Boston Estate Planning Council as “Estate Planner of the Year.”  Patricia is an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP).

Patricia has a long record of service in professional and community organizations. She is currently a member of the Cotting School Medical and Senior Advisor Board, a member of the Smith College President's Council and a member of the Board of Visitors for Suffolk University. For the Massachusetts Bar Association, she has been a past member of the Probate Council, past chairperson of the Probate Legislation Committee, and past co-chairperson of the Probate Education Committee. Patricia also has served as past co-chairperson of the Boston Bar Association Estate Planning Committee, and on the National Board of Directors of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). 

She is a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors for Suffolk University Law School and a member of the Center for Women and Financial Independence at Smith College.  She is also a former president of the Alumni President’s Council of Independent Secondary Schools. She was the recipient of the 1988 Distinguished Alumna Award from Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart and is a past president of its alumnae association.

Patricia is also the 2009 recipient of Suffolk University Law School’s “Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award.”   This annual award is presented to a Suffolk University Law School graduate who has made a significant contribution to both society and the legal profession. 

Patricia also lends her considerable talent and expertise in the practice areas of corporate and media law, making her an invaluable resource to both her colleagues at the firm and to many of Prince Lobel’s clients.
